Seven people were sentenced to death in Holey Artisan Bakery attack case

DMP has formed a three-member probe committee to investigate the controversy of the praying cap with the emblem of terrorist group Islamic State (IS) worn by two Holey Artisan attack case convicts.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman relayed the information while talking to journalists on Thursday.

A Dhaka court on Wednesday delivered the verdict in the Holey Artisan Bakery attack case, sentencing seven New JMB militants to death and acquitting one of all charges.

Rakibul Islam Regan, one of the eight defendants, had been wearing a knit black praying cap. But after the verdict, he flipped the cap inside out, revealing the logo of the infamous terrorist group Islamic State (IS).

When the prisoners were hauled back into a van to be returned to prison, another condemned – Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi – was also seen wearing the cap.
