The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides grants to experienced Bangladeshi professionals

The US Embassy in Dhaka is accepting applications for the 2020 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, through which participants can receive grants to conduct advanced post-doctoral research and lectures at US institutions.

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides grants to experienced Bangladeshi professionals for either an academic semester or a full academic year, a press release issued by the US Embassy in Bangladesh said on Monday.

Some six-to-nine-month research grants will be provided to university faculty members, researchers at think-tanks, and relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations (with ten years or more professional experience) to pursue research and to lecture in the US, with the term beginning in September 2020.

One to two-semester lecturing grants are also available, as are short-term, three-month grants to scholars to conduct needs assessments and research related to institutional or program development.

Grants are also available for consulting with administrators and instructors of post-secondary institutions in faculty development, and to develop and assess academic curriculum or educational materials.

The application deadline for the fall 2020 program is Saturday, December 7, 2019.

The Fulbright program is intended for highly motivated scholars with advanced degrees (PhD), or individuals with professional equivalent experience, who propose to conduct research or teach in the fields of their specialization.

A prospective applicant must submit an online application through the online application system.  The online application is available at: https://apply.iie.org/fvsp2020.

Aspirants for the lecturing grants must have extensive teaching experience; moreover, teaching experience acquired abroad will be considered as an added qualification. Complete instructions about the grants is available at: https://go.usa.gov/xpCQW.

The program is highly competitive and the selection committee places great emphasis on the written proposal.  The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is meant for Bangladeshi citizens, and prospective applicants must be residing in Bangladesh at the time of application.
