They demand full implementation of Road Transport Act 2018
Dhallywood artistes have protested against the humiliation of popular actor and road safety activist Ilias Kanchan.
After the Road Transport Act 2018 went into effect on November 18, pictures of effigy and posters of Ilias Kanchan being desecrated went viral on social media and triggered public outrage.
Following the incident, his peers from 18 organizations formed a human chain in front of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) around midday on Monday.
Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association General Secretary Zayed Khan said: "We have protested against the humiliation of actor, director and producer Ilias Kanchan."
"We demand full implementation of the Road Transport Act 2018."
Artistes will organize more programs if required, Zayed Khan added.
Ilias Kanchan lost his wife in a tragic road accident in 1993. Since then, he has pledged to be a road safety activist for life. He is also the founder of the social movement for road safety awareness titled Nirapad Sharak Chai.
