Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has claimed that there is no shortage of salt in Bangladesh.

He made the statement at a press conference at the Awami League's president's political office in Dhaka's Dhanmondi on Tuesday.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader also said there is conspiracy behind the rumors of hiking price of salt after onion.

"A group of people is trying to gain political interest by spreading rumors about price hike of salt after onion," said Quader.

He further claimed that there is enough storage of salt in the country. He added that there is no shortage of rice as well.

Quader urged people not to pay any attention to these rumors and warned that rumor mongers will be brought to book.

Government and authorities have taken measures to tackle these rumors, Quader said.
