2 held with 2,850 yaba pills

A case was lodged with airport police station under the narcotics control act

Police have detained two passengers with 2,850 pieces of yaba pills at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. 

The detainees are – Jamiul Islam, 21, and Arif Shikder, 23. Both are students of the Faridpur Polytechnic Institute. 

They were detained from the parking lot of the airport’s domestic terminal around 2:30 pm on Monday, as their movement was found suspicious, confirmed Airport Armed Police Battalion’s (APBn) Additional SP (operations and media) Alamgir Hossain. 

The value of the seized yaba pills is Tk14 lakh. 

During interrogation, the duo said they collected the yaba pills from a person named Babu from Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar following instructions from a person named Shahin of Faridpur. They brought the yaba from Cox’s Bazar via a flight of Novo Air.
