Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has called for joint efforts with required resource mobilization to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Highlighting the historical background of SDGs, he said Bangladesh played a significant role in setting the new set of global goals.
The foreign minister was addressing a seminar titled ‘Implementation of SDGs in Bangladesh: Current Status and Future Prospects’ held at the Media Bazar of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on Friday.
Additional Secretary (SDGs) at Prime Minister’s Office M Mokammel Hossain presented a paper at the seminar chaired by Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), reports UNB.
Economic Relations Division Additional Secretary Sultana Afroz and Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) professional fellow Dr M Asaduzzaman also spoke on the occasion.
Terming Bangladesh a country of innovation, Dr Momen said challenges related to financial, technological and social aspects will not appear as barriers to the implementation of SDGs.
The speakers emphasized partnership between private and public sectors, South-South Cooperation and resource mobilization to achieve the SDGs.
