Kamal inaugurated the Income tax fair 2019 on Thursday
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has paid a sum of Tk70,600,956 income tax this year.
The finance minister handed over a cheque to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan at Officers Club in Dhaka on Thursday.
The total income tax of his family, including his wife and two daughters, this year is Tk2,217,500,872 income of his family.
Of the paid amount, Kamal's tax was Tk9,146,080, while his total earning was Tk236,300,000.
He said: "My yearly income decreased a bit compared to the last year."
However, the finance minister did not mention any reason behind the decrease in income.
Earlier in the day, Kamal inaugurated the Income Tax Fair 2019.
The week-long fair in Dhaka would continue till November 20, while fairs at district levels would run for four days.
Besides, the NBR will arrange a two-day fair at 48 upazilas and a daylong mobile fair at eight upazilas.
Taxpayers will be able to file tax returns, pay taxes and do other related tasks at the fair venue with the assistance of tax officials. Besides, one can get electronic Tax Identification Number (e-TIN) at the fairs.
The NBR launched the tax fair in 2010 to encourage people to pay taxes in a hassle-free environment. The fair was an immediate success.
