DNCRP fined the Gulshan outlet of North End Coffee Roasters Tk1 lakh on Monday
A day after being fined for reportedly using date expired milk, coffee giant North End Coffee Roasters has clarified that it never did so and the media reports regarding the allegation was misleading.
"Our Cityscape Tower café was searched by the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) officials, and they found one packet of milk amongst all our milk that was frozen at the bottom of our freezer. This packet of expired milk was unopened and unused,” North End Coffee Roasters Managing Director Rick Hubbard said in a Facebook post on the company’s official page on Tuesday.

"We were fined for this and they were right to do that. We accept responsibility for this,” he added.
The Facebook post also said: “To address this lapse in quality control, North End is responding with even more measures to ensure that this doesn’t happen in the future. We are appointing a Quality Control Officer, with immediate effect, who will focus on health, safety and quality standards in our stores."
In separate drives on Monday, Dhaka divisional office of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) fined the Gulshan outlet of North End Coffee Roasters Tk1 lakh over the issue.
