Khoka’s family to fulfill his last wish ‘of being buried in his motherland’

Family members of late Sadeque Hossain Khoka, freedom fighter and former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation, have confirmed they have contacted the Bangladesh Consulate General in New York to bring  his body back home to Bangladesh.

Khoka’s family wanting to fulfill his last wish of “being buried in his motherland,” said:

“We are making arrangements to bring him back home as soon as possible. The consulate here (New York) has agreed to issue travel documents for him and my mother," confirmed Khoka's youngest son Ishfaque Hossain, to Dhaka Tribune on Monday.

"As soon as we receive them (travel documents), we will return with him and bury him in his motherland beside his parents," added Ishfaque.

His body will be laid to rest in Dhaka’s Jurain graveyard.

In the early hours of Monday, Khoka, vice chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), passed away in treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
