Sport industry is considered to be the most popular entertainment sector of Bangladesh

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the current government, under the rule of Awami League, failed to maintain a stable sports sector.

He made the remark at a press briefing after celebrating “Biplob O Songhoti Dibos” with party members at the party's Naya Paltan office on Wednesday.

He said: "The Awami League ruled government has disappointed the nation as they could not maintain the peaceful nature of sports, which is the most popular entertainment sector of Bangladesh."

Regarding Shakib Al Hasan’s suspension, he added: “Shakib's incident is really unfortunate. We are hopeful that such events will not be repeated in the future.”

Fakhrul was also optimistic of Shakib’s return and even better performance, after  serving the punishment.

“Sometimes people conspire against the great performers, but I should not say more before the proper investigation,” he said.
