They have pressed for the immediate arrest and punishment of his killers
Students have launched a mass signature campaign to press for the immediate arrest and punishment of the killers of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Abrar Fahad.
The campaign was launched on Monday as part of the ongoing student movement that was suspended for two days till Monday, for the smooth completion of the admission test at Buet.
The signature campaign was held in front of Shaheed Minar at the Buet campus, where many students, admission seekers, and their guardians were seen signing the campaign seeking justice for Abrar.
The protest, launched just after Abrar was killed, will begin in full phase from Tuesday again.
Abrar, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of the university, was beaten to death inside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of October 7.
Some Chhatra League leaders of the organization's Buet chapter have been accused of beating him to death for his alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Abrar's father filed a murder case against 19 people at Chawkbazar police station on same day of the murder. As of Monday, 19 people have been detained in the case.
