'All the university and college students are now my sons'
The gruesome murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Abrar Fahad has now compelled his mother to be concerned about the safety of her younger son.
"I have already lost one son, but do not want to lose another son [Abrar Faiyyaz]," Abrar's mother Rokeya Begum told journalists at her house in Kushtia on Thursday evening.
She said: "Students have taken to the streets for my son, but I do not want any mother to lose her son.
"All the university and college students are now my sons,” she added.
Rokeya demanded that the students are not tortured.
She also expressed that the family is feeling very insecure.
"I want security for my other son. I want all the killers of my son be punished and rusticated from the university."
Abrar's father Barkatullah said he wants to see his son’s killers suffer the maximum punishment before his death.
He also sought more focused investigation to bring all who were involved in his son’s killing to justice, and demanded submission of the charge sheet and quick disposal of the case through the speedy trial tribunal.
Abrar Fahad, a second year student of electrical and electronic engineering department of the university, was beaten to death allegedly by some leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Buet unit inside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall on the early hours of Monday.
