A group of seven boys boarded a boat to cross the waterbody after their play
Two schoolboys have died when a boat capsized in a waterbody at Aftabnagar in the capital's Badda area.
The incident took place around 2pm on Thursday.
Badda police station Inspector (operations) Md Yasin Gazi confirmed the news to Dhaka Tribune.
The deceased are -- Tanvir Mahatab Sami, 16, son of Malaysian expatriate Biplab Bepari; and Md Sakib, 16, son of Jasim Baburchi. Both were the ninth graders of Haji Almas High School located at Purbo Badda.
The police official said a group of seven boys boarded a boat to cross the waterbody after their play.
The boat somehow capsized, while five of them were rescued, two drowned, he said. Later, the bodies of the duo were recovered.
Their bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy, the inspector added.
