TIB urges everyone involved to remove the posts

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has said their name was being illegally used to spread two fake news posts on social media platforms, including YouTube and Facebook.

In a press release issued in this regard on Wednesday, TIB urged those responsible for the posts to remove them from the social media platforms.

The two fake news “12 ministers, MPs of Awami League get entangled in corruption allegations, TIB gives ultimatum to detain them within three days” and “Government spent Tk45,000 crore in 13 years to prove Tarique Zia is guilty: TIB” came to TIB authority's attention and later issued the release to clear their stance.

“TIB has no involvement regarding the two news items and its name was wrongfully used and whoever is involved behind it was asked to bring the posts down from the social media websites,” the statement said.

The organization also expressed deep concern over the matter and asked those involved to refrain from doing so in the future, else, TIB would be bound to take legal action.

Social media users were urged to remain alert about fake news in TIB’s name, as TIB’s research, findings and declarations are all available on its official website and Facebook page.

TIB will only take responsibility for any news or information which will be or are already published in its website, Facebook page or press release sent by it, the press release further added.
