The gold and gold ornaments were seized after searching seven passengers and their luggage
Customs Intelligence officials have seized 2.136kg gold and gold ornaments worth about Tk1 crore from the possession of seven passengers in separate operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Customs Intelligence recovered the gold and ornaments of gold after conducting body searches of seven passengers and also searching their luggage, at the airport on Tuesday night.
Customs officials recovered around 968 grams of gold from Momtaz Begum and Ayesha Begum, two passengers from Kolkata, confirmed Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Customs House Sajjad Hossen.
They also seized eight pieces of gold bars weighing about 834 grams from another five passengers after searching them in different times at HSIA.
