Twenty-nine senior political leaders affiliated with Bangladesh Awami League (AL), Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jatiya Party (JaPa) have graduated from the inaugural “Senior Leaders Fellowship Program”.

A certificate giving ceremony was held at a local hotel in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Senior central party leaders presented certificates to the fellowship graduates.

Awami League presidium member and parliamentarian Col (retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan, BNP National Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury,  and JaPa presidium member and parliamentarian Prof Masuda Rashid Chowdhury participated in the ceremony and expressed their support for positive inter- and intra-party coordination, empowering women and youth in politics, and strengthening tolerant and inclusive politics in Bangladesh.

Democracy International (DI) recently launched the leadership program for senior political party leaders from various districts across Bangladesh.

Over the two-month program, the leaders learned about and honed their political leadership skills in areas including strategic political communications, conflict resolution, internal democracy, empowering women and youth, and advancing issue-based advocacy campaigns to improve citizens’ lives in their communities.

The fellowship was organized under the Strengthening Political Landscape (SPL) project co-funded by USAID and UKAid and implemented by DI.
