Police will directly use the CIMS app to avail information about tenants

Dhaka Metropolitan of Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia has said information on tenants have helped eradicate major militant dens in Dhaka.

"Theft, robbery and extortion have also decreased for this reason," he said in a statement released on Monday.

He made the statement while launching a mobile app, "Citizen Information Management System (CIMS)", at the media centre of Dhaka Metropolitan of Police (DMP).

"Crimes decreased when we started to collect public information," he added.

"We have collected the information of over 7.2 million citizens in CIMS. Individuals can no longer rent out or rent a house without a lease information form."

"Police will be directly use the CIMS app to avail information about tenants," he said.

The app can be downloaded on handsets and input information, Asaduzzaman said.

The CIMS app can be downloaded from the Google Playstore on Android phones and will soon be available on the Apple Store as well.

A citizen can then log in using the verification code sent to their mobile number, he said.

The citizen can see the data to be put on the app when an officer approves it for view. If the information provided by the citizen is incomplete, it will be notified immediately to his or her email ID, he added.
