Rashed was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital early Friday
A transport worker has been killed when a bus ran him over at Kamarpara under Uttara west police station in Dhaka.
The accident took place on Thursday night.
The deceased, Rashed Hawlader, 20, was an assistant of a covered van driver. He hailed from Chargazi village in Bhola Sadar upazila.
The covered van driver, Mostofa Mia, also the maternal uncle of the victim, said they were heading towards Chittagong, and stopped the vehicle at Kamarpara around 10:30pm on Thursday to respond to the call of nature.
A bus of Asmani Paribahan hit Rashed while he was getting into the covered van after relieving himself, said Mostofa.
Critically injured Rashed was taken to a local hospital immediately, from where he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
The on-duty physician declared him dead around 2:20am on Friday, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Sadek of Uttara west police station.
Police seized the bus, and the body of Rashed was handed over to his family after an autopsy was performed at DMCH, the police official added.
