Cleanliness campaign held at Central Shaheed Minar

As part of the Porichchonno Bangladesh campaign,the volunteers cleaned the entire area beside Dhaka Medical College, jointly arranged by Bangladesh Scouts and Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh

The volunteers of Bangladesh Scouts have held a cleanliness campaign at Dhaka's Central Shaheed Minar premises in Dhaka University (DU).

As part of the Porichchonno Bangladesh campaign,the volunteers cleaned the entire area beside Dhaka Medical College, jointly arranged by Bangladesh Scouts and Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh.

Speakers at the campaign emphasized on being hygienic and keeping our environment clean,and also advised people to use foot-over bridge and zebra crossing while crossing the roads. 

While addressing, Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, dean of Earth and Environmental Sciences faculty said: “Today’s youth will lead the task of building a clean Bangladesh. If they can maintain discipline first, they can contribute to making the country clean for sure.

“Students are agents of change. We can give you a guideline but it is you who will be transforming the county. Bangladesh will be developed if we try to keep our places clean. You, the youth have this spread the message to your friends, and family.”

Presided over by Md Shah Kamal, national commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts and senior secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, Riaz Ahmed, cleanliness ambassador of the campaign, Salahuddin Ahmed, Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) Ltd marketing manager were present among others.

To make people aware about good health and cleanliness, Dettol and Channel i started Porichchonno Bangladesh Campaign in February, 2017. Along with the soap brand Dettol, toilet cleaner brand Harpic also joined the campaign this. 

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Bangladesh Scouts and Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh in February.

Besides direct training, the campaign also helps to raise awareness through the media. The main objective of this campaign is to reach at least 80 million people and make them conscious about health and hygiene every year through mass media and social networking platform.
