The detective branch (DB) of Police has arrested a man in connection with the murder of a Pathao App rider, who was killed on Mouchak-Malibagh flyover on August 26.

At the time of the arrest, the motorcyle belonging to the slain rider Md Milon, 35, was also recovered.

Confirming the matter on Monday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commission Masudur Rahman said details will be disclosed in a press briefing at the Media Centre later in the day.

How was the rider killed?

Police suspects that the attacker stabbed Milon and snatched away his motorbike around 2:30am on August 26. A case was filed in connection with the murder.

Bleeding profusely, with a deep cut to his throat, Milon was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Milon was later shifted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital upon the doctor’s advice.

Later, the 35-year-old died while undergoing treatment.

Shahjahanpur police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Atikur Rahman had told Dhaka Tribune that Milon spoke to his friend was around 2am, little before the incident.

During their phone conversation, Milon told his friend that he was in front of the CID office in Malibagh.

According to his family, Milon had been a partner-driver with ridesharing company Pathao.

On August 7, he last used the ridesharing app to served passengers.

Police and family members suspect that he was giving ride to the attacker on the night of the incident, without using the app.

The motorcycle was missing after the incident.
