4 held over murder of cattle trader

RAB also seizes mobile phone of victim and murder weapon

RAB has detained four suspected members of an inter-district robbery gang in connection with the murder of a cattle trader.  

A team of RAB 1, during a special drive, detained the suspects from Dhaka's Turag area around 1:30am on Wednesday. 

The arrestees are -- Md Amjad Hossain, 45, Md Babul Hossain , 40, Md Ujjal Mia, 26, and Md Ajmal, 27. 

RAB also recovered the mobile phone of the victim and the murder weapon from the suspects’possession.

Confirming the matter, RAB 1 Commanding Officer (CO) Lt Col Md Sarwar Bin Kashem said: "On August 10, a group of cattle traders were returning to Natore in a truck after selling their cattle's for this year's Eid-ul-Azha. Members of the robbery gang were also in truck disguised as passengers. 

"When the truck reached a quiet place in the Ashuliya area, the robbers beat up Kalim Uddin Fakir, 50, and snatched Tk1,200,000 before pushing him off the truck. Later, one of Kalam's fellow cattle traders, Md Bakul Ali Sheikh, filed a robbery and murder case with the Turag police station." 

"During the primary interrogation the suspects have admitted to their crimes. Necessary steps will be taken upon further investigation," the RAB official added.
