Dr Imtiaz Ahmed presented the memorial speech honouring Sitara Parvin
Ten students of Mass Communication and Journalism department of Dhaka University received Professor Sitara Parvin Award for their outstanding achievement in the BSS (honours) examinations of 2018.
The recipients are; Mehjabin Bashir Tuli, Sharmin Jahan Juha, Fayej Ahmed, Abdur Razzak Sohel, Tonmoy Saha Joy, Namrata Talukder Arpa, Tahmina Akhter Jenny, Sumaiya Tanim Leea, Shamima Nasrin Shammi, and Meherun Nahar Meghla.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Dr M Akhtaruzzaman distributed cheques, and certificates among the awardees at the RC Majumdar Arts Auditorium in the campus on Monday.
Professor of International Relation and Director of Centre for Genocide Studies Dr Imtiaz Ahmed presented the memorial speech on late Professor Sitara Parvin.
Speaking at the program as chief guest, VC Dr Akhteruzzaman paid tributes to the memory of Professor Sitara Parvin. He advised the recipients, and students of the department to follow the footsteps, and ideals of Sitara Parvin.
The awards were given by Professor Sitara Parvin Trust Fund.
Prof Sitara Parvin, a teacher of Mass Communication and Journalism department, and daughter of former president Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed, died in a road accident in the USA on June 23, 2005.
Sitara Parvin’s husband Dr Ahaduzzaman Muhammad Ali, who was also a professor in the same department, thanked the guests, and appreciated the students of the department.
