The minister urged the citizens of Bangladesh to remain alert against all conspirators

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is also responsible for the heinous 21st August grenade attack and she cannot avoid the liability.

“DGFI (Directorate General of Forces Intelligence) tried to investigate the 21st August grenade attack as per the statements of the DGFI officials.

"But, Khaleda Zia rebuked them. So, she is also liable for the attack," he told reporters after placing wreaths at the memorial erected on the spot of the occurrence at Bangabandhu Avenue, Dhaka on Wednesday.

Terming the incident as a dreadful one, the Awami League publicity and publication secretary said the then BNP government rebuked a DGFI official and the police officials who wanted to investigate the heinous attack.

After the attack on that day, he said, police lobbed tear gas and charged baton on the Awami League leaders and activists instead of recovering the dead bodies and the rescuing the injured.

"The aim of this action was to allow attackers to flee without any difficulties," he added.

Instead of tracking down the real culprits, the then BNP-Jamaat government staged the “Joj Miah drama" with an innocent village man to divert the incident to other direction, Dr Hasan said.

He said BNP-Jamaat clique is hatching conspiracy to turn Bangladesh into a militant state.

The minister urged all to remain alert against the conspirators.
