27 die of dengue at DMCH since June

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 40 people died due to dengue till 8:00am on Thursday

With the death of garments worker Moushumi Akhter, 24, the number of dengue patients dying in Dhaka Medical College Hospital reached 27 as of yesterday noon. 

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 40 people died due to dengue till 8:00am on Thursday.

However, the unofficial death toll was reported  at 95 till yesterday.

Assistant Director (administration) of DMCH, Nasir Uddin said from the beginning of June, a total of 27 patients, who were undergoing treatment for being affected by dengue, died at the hospital till yesterday.

The blood samples of the deceased were sent for clinical examination to find the exact reason behind the deaths. After receiving the reports, it will be possible to ascertain whether they died from dengue or other diseases, he added. 

Claiming that the number of dengue patients are decreasing, he said some 131 newly affected patients were admitted to the hospital, while some 601 dengue patients were undergoing treatment in the hospital.
