The deceased was an HSC second year student of Ali Ahmed School & College in the Goran area of Khilgaon in Dhaka
The body of a college girl, Tanzila Akhter Rupa, 17, was retrieved by the police yesterday from Motijheel in the capital.
According to locals, the college girl died falling from a high-rise building. Tanzila was an HSC second year student of Ali Ahmed School & College in the Goran area of Khilgaon in Dhaka, said police.
Motijheel police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Ariful Islam said they sent the corpse on Saturday at around 4pm from the City Centre building in Motijheel, to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.
“We learnt the girl fell from the 14th floor of the building. However, we are investigating the matter further in detail,” he added.
The SI said they have detained the deceased’s stepbrother, Jobayer Ahmed Shamrat, for questioning, since the girl had gone to the building to meet her stepbrother.
At the DMCH, Jobayer said they used to live in south Goran of Khilgaon and he works for a security company at the City Centre building.
According to Jobayer, he left Rupa by the window on the 14th floor in the afternoon when he went to the room next door. He soon heard a loud thudding sound and upon going downstairs to check, he saw his stepsister’s bloodied corpse.
