A group of Dhaka University (DU) students has demonstrated in the campus demanding the decision of affiliating seven colleges under the institution to be annulled.

The protesting students brought out a procession and formed a human chain at the base of the Raju Memorial sculpture of University's Teacher-Student centre on Monday while giving a one-day ultimatum to the university administration to meet their four-point demand.

They also threatened the authority that if their four-point demand is not met within the given time, they will go for a stronger movement.

The other three demands are: publishing all the academic result within two months; bringing the administrative, academic activities to an automation system; and controlling external vehicles and fixing rickshaw rent inside the university.

Shakil Mia, DU student and spokesperson of the movement said: "Our main demand is the cancelation of the decision of affiliating seven colleges under DU.

"The DU administration has failed to take the responsibility of their own 43,000 students, how will they manage 250,000 students of these seven colleges? Because of this we along with the students of the seven DU-affiliated colleges are suffering."

“So, I think our first priority should be to solve the problems of these seven colleges," he added.
