Later in the day, the Forensic department of DMCH has collected reference samples and specimen from the victim.

Earlier on Wednesday night, a group of passengers rescued the sixth-grader, who was raped inside the Jamuna Express train in Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station.

The passengers also handed over a man, who was suspected of being the perpetrator, was later identified as Shamrat, to the airport outpost police.

The victim, who was found inside a carriage of the express train was taken to the police around 12:30 am on Thursday, but was kept waiting for 12 hours without any treatment.

An eye witness namely Ratul Sikder, who was at the police station, however, alleged that the victim was kept waiting for so long due to negligence on the part of the police.

Police, said that the delay in filing the case was due to their inability to track down the girl’s family.

The police added that the passengers, finding something suspicious about the child, asked her who she was with, and subsequently apprehended the man.

The mother of the child, as plaintiff, filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on Thursday.
