Police are questioning six people in connection with the murder
Police have recovered the body of a 7-year-old girl at Wari in the capital.
The deceased was identified as Samiya Afrin Sayma. She was a student of Silverdale School.
The victim's father, Abdus Salam, a businessman, said he returned home around 7pm on Friday and could not find Samiya in her room. He began searching with his wife.
When they failed to find the girl in their fifth-floor apartment, they began checking the other floors, some of which were under construction.
Around 8pm, they found her body with a rope tied around her neck in the kitchen of an unfinished apartment on the seventh floor.
Wari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizur Rahman suspected that the child might have been killed after rape.
The police took six people, including the security guard and the caretaker of the building, to the police station for interrogation, he said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Wari Zone) Mohammad Shamsuzzaman said a case was filed by the victim's father on Saturday morning.
The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital's morgue for autopsy.
