His body was found stuffed in a sack

The body of a khadem (caretaker) of Mayor Mohammad Hanif Jame Mosque has been found in an abandoned area outside the mosque in Dhaka's Azimpur area.

The body of Abu Hanif, 37, was found stuffed in a sack with stab wounds on his belly, in the early hours of Thursday, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalbagh police station KM Ashrafuddin told Dhaka Tribune.

His body has been sent to a hospital for autopsy.

Abu, who joined the mosque just two months ago, used to share a flat with four others- three of them khadems - in a building not far from the mosque, the OC said.

However, when police went to investigate, they could not find one of his flatmates, while the other three were taken to the police station for interrogation, Ashrafuddin added.

Upon primary interrogation, they said that Abu used to have frequent quarrels with the missing khadem.
