State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman has said all the chemicals warehouses in Old Dhaka will be relocated to Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj by June 2022.

He made the announcement while talking on the investigation reports of Churihatta, and FR Tower fire incidents, in a meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

The minister said it is the people’s demand to shift the chemical warehouses, located in the city's residential areas, outside the capital.

"We have come to know from a report of the Ministry of Industries that a total of 310 acres of land have been allocated in the Sirajdikhan upazila for shifting the chemical warehouses, where 2,154 plots will be allotted for Tk1,700 crore," he said.

"We have got the investigation report of the Churihatta fire incident. In this report we have got five short-term, and 26 long-term recommendations. We have discussed these recommendations at the meeting," he added.

Representatives from 22 ministries were present at the meeting.
