Parts of northern Dhaka is suffering a gas supply halt and low gas pressure which started around 9am and will continue till 5pm on Monday, due to replacement of gas pipelines in the Dhaka Cantonment area.

Gas supply will be suspended to areas from Zia Colony to the adjacent areas of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday, said a press release of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd (TGTDCL).

According to Titas, the authorities concerned will shift gas pipelines to facilitate construction work of an underpass project near Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College in Dhaka Cantonment.

The authorities will also disconnect gas lines to the commercial and residential in Kawla area including CNG stations, Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden, Dhaka Regency Hotel & Resort, Biman Flight Catering Centre, Kurmitola General Hospital, Army Golf Club, Civil Aviation Quarter, the press release said.

Gas supply will be at very low pressure in the residential and commercial areas that fall between Khilkhet and Nikunja areas during this time, the media release adds.

Gas outage and low pressure are two major and common problems that city dwellers face very often, with the crisis deepening further every winter. The consumers also face problems due to installation and replacement of gas pipelines on a regular basis, mainly owing to lack of coordination between all the utility agencies.
