Citizens of Dhaka saw a rainfall last morning, the first day of the Bangla month of Ashar, giving much-needed respite to them from the sweltering heat.

However, different parts of the Chittagong city were inundated due to extensive rainfall. Not only did the roads submerged,  the water also entered into the houses, and shops.

A trough of low lies over West Bengal to North Bay, and the South-West monsoon has advanced up to Chittagong, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, said the Met office bulletin.

It forecasted rain at most places in Chittagong, Sylhet, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Barisal divisions, and at one-or-two places in Khulna, and Rajshahi divisions with moderately-heavy-to-heavy rainfall in parts of Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions.

The Met office said a mild-to-moderate heat wave has been sweeping over the Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Khulna divisions, and it may abate at some places.
