A GD has been filed regarding the incident
Six individuals have forcefully entered the office of leading online news portal Bangla Tribune.
The incident occurred in Bangla Tribune's office situated at FR Tower in Dhaka's Panthpath area, around 12:54pm on Saturday
The individuals - one female and five male - continuously identified themselves as men of former Awami League law maker Md Mokbul Hossain, and were looking for the online news portal's editor, Zulfiqer Russell.
They also claimed to be working for City University, owned by the former lawmaker, which did not make it to the top 20 of the Dhaka Tribune-Bangla Tribune Private University Rankings 2019.
A general diary (GD) has been filed in this regard with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.
Confirming the matter, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdur Rashid said: "Bangla Tribune Assistant Human Resource Manager Alamgir Hossain has filed a GD around 8pm regarding the incident. We are looking into the matter.
"Necessary steps will be taken upon further investigation."
