Investigations have got underway, said OC Shahbagh Police Station
A case has been filed with the Shahbagh police station against some 40 to 50 people in connection with an incident of vandalism in the Vice Chancellors (VC) office of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib medical University (BSMMU).
BSMMU Acting Proctor lodged the case with Shahbagh Police at 12:00am on Tuesday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abul Hossain with the Shahbagh police station confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
"A case has been filed in connection with the incident of vandalism at the office of the Vice Chancellor of BSMMU. An investigation into the incident is already underway", said OC Abul Hossain.

On March 20, 2019, written examinations were held for the recruitment of 180 medical officers in BSMMU. A total of 8,557 medical doctors appeared in the 200-mark examination.
On May 12, 2019, recruitment exam results were published but the test participants seeking appointment as potential medical officers at the BSMMU took to the streets protesting apparent irregularities in the recruitment exam.
In wake of protest demonstration being launched by the participants in the recruitment exam, BSMMU authorities called off administrative steps for Viva-Voce examinations.
In the midst of seeming uncertainties and escalating tensions over the medical officer recruitment, an incident of vandalism occurred in the BSMMU VC's office.
Later in the evening, a case was filed with Shahbagh Police station.
