Two others were also injured

A man has been killed and two others were injured when a portion of a wall collapsed on them, following an explosion in a building, in Kadamtoli area in Dhaka's Jatrabari.

The deceased was identified as Farid Ahmed, 55, son of late A Jalil from Fulgazi, Feni. The injured are: Kamal, 45, Saidul, 30 and Jakir, 35.

Confirming the matter, Kadamtali police station Officer-in-Charge Jamal Uddin Mir said: "The wall collapsed on a number of pedestrians following an explosion in Exim Bank's storeroom, located on the third floor of the building, around 9:30am. It left Farid, a cap trader, dead on the spot.”

The second floor of the building was also partially damaged due to the blast.

Police suspect the explosion might have occurred due to faulty wiring in an air conditioner.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Among the injured, Kamal was the manager of Haque Bakery and Sweets, said Rafi, a salesman at the bakery.
