Just days before Eid, mobile court operations yet again found popular upscale eateries preparing their dishes in unhygienic conditions with unsafe ingredients.
A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Sarwoer Alam, raided several restaurants in Dhaka's Gulshan area and found them not complying with hygiene standards.
Khana Khazana was fined Tk3 lakh, Khazana was fined Tk7 lakh, Saltz was fined Tk4 lakh, and Nando’s, BBQ Bangladesh and Spitfire were fined Tk2 lakh each.
Sarwoer confirmed to Dhaka Tribune that many food ingredients had expired, and dishes were being prepared in filthy conditions. Furthermore, some restaurants were found using chemicals to adulterate their food, but he did not clarify which ones.
