2 Rohingyas held at Dhaka airport

Both were carrying Bangladeshi passports

Two Rohingyas have been held by Special Branch (SB) of Police, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, while they were attempting to clear immigration on Saturday. 

The detainees are: Jobeda Khatun, 63, and Jamila begum, 58.  

Confirming the matter with Dhaka Tribune, SB (Airport Zone) Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahid Hasan said: "Two women were trying to board a flight of Kuwait Airlines in order to go to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.  

"As they were entering immigration area, we stopped them for their suspicious behavior. They could not speak in Bangla. During interrogation, they admitted that they were Rohingya's." 

"We were also able get the names of the traffickers. A case has been filed is this regard. The detainees have been handed over to the Airport police station. Further investigation will reveal more information. 

"Both of them were carrying Bangladeshi passports" he added.
