The blockade includes around 1,000 workers of two jute mills
Workers of two jute mills in Dhaka's Demra have blocked a road demanding the payment of their outstanding wages.
Around 1000 workers of Latif Bawani Jute Mills and Karim Jute Mills blocked the road near the Demra Staff Quarter area around 8am on Monday.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Demra police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Muzammal Huq said: "Workers of two jute mills blocked the road near the Demra Staff Quarter area around 8am.
"They are demanding the payment of their arrears."
Authorities concerned—and owners or any of their representatives of the two mills—are yet to visit the spot and talk to protesting workers.
When police asked the workers to call of their blockade, they said that they would not budge unless the arrears were paid off.
