The new prices will remain in effect until the 27th day of Ramadan
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has set the price of beef at Tk525 and of buffalo at Tk480 — for the holy month of Ramadan.
DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon disclosed the decision after a meeting with meat traders at Nagarbhaban on Monday, reports UNB.
The price of beef and buffalo are Tk75 and Tk60, respectively, higher, than last year.
The DSCC authorities have also set the prices of mutton at Tk750, and that of lamb at Tk650; which were Tk720 and Tk600, respectively, last year.
The mayor said the newly-set prices will remain in effect until the 27th day of Ramadan.
If the moon-sighting council spots the Ramadan crescent on Monday evening, then fasting will begin on May 7, Tuesday.
