He believes a certain quarter may have forged his signature
Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman HM Ershad has filed a general diary (GD) with police over concern that he might have become a victim of signature fraud.
Ershad, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, filed the GD with Banani police station on Wednesday.
However, he did not mention anyone’s name in the GD.
Inspector Shaihan Waliullah, who is in charge of the matter, said: “The GD signed by Ershad says he fears that his signature may have been forged.”
According to the GD, the former military ruler fears that his assets, businesses, bank accounts, and even decisions regarding his party could be at stake as a certain quarter may forge his signature.
“In the wake of his falling health, Ershad fears for his security, which is why he filed the GD,” the inspector added.
Banani police station OC Forman Ali confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
