At least 359 people were killed—and around 500 injured—in bomb blasts that ripped through churches and luxury hotels in the Sri Lankan capital on Easter Sunday; the first major attack on the Indian Ocean island since the end of a civil war 10 years ago.
Zayan, one of the two sons of Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Selim’s daughter, Sheikh Amena Sultana Sonia, died in the explosion at a hotel where the family was staying.
Zayan’s father, Mashiul Haque Chowdhury, was also injured in the blast and later admitted to a hospital in Sri Lanka, according to Sheikh Selim’s Personal Assistant Imrul Haque.
