Two others were injured in the incident early on Tuesday
Two people were killed in an accident in the capital, while two others were also injured.
Witnesses said the accident occurred when a bus lost control and collided with a private car and another bus near the Motsho Bhaban area around 7 am on Tuesday.
Following this, police arrested the bus driver, Nazrul Islam and seized the bus.
Among the two deceased, one was identified as Sumon, 26, a rickshaw puller, while the other still remains unidentified, considered to be the passenger of Sumon's rickshaw.
The two injured in the incident are Nur Alam, 30 and Sharif, 20.
Ramna police station OC Jahirul Islam confirmed and told Dhaka Tribune the four seriously-injured people were immediately sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), after which two were declared dead by doctors around 8am, he added.
Monir Hossain, one of the people who rescued the injured and brought them to DMCH, said: “After passing Motsho Bhaban, the driver of a Shadhin Paribahan bus lost control and collided with a staff bus of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and a private car.”
Sumon’s wife and sister identified his body at DMCH morgue.
Seeking justice for Sumon’s death, his sister Jasmine said her brother used to live in a rented tin-shed house in Shahjahanpur railway colony with his family.
