DB arrests 6 suspected members of robbery gang in Dhaka

The gang would drug passengers on buses before robbing them

The Detective Branch of Police (DB) has arrested 6 suspected members of a robbery gang from the Mohakhali area of Dhaka.

The arrestees are Jahangir Mollah, 35, Shah Alam, 48, Mamun Akand, 38, Mansur Alam alias Pinto alias Mintu, 45, Mizanur Rahman, 42, and Abul Hossain, 42.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman told Dhaka Tribune: "The suspects were arrested when a DB team conducted a raid in the Mohakhali bus stand area around 4pm on Saturday, after receiving a tip-off.

The DB also recovered dates and halua mixed with sedatives, and 50 sedative tablets from the possession of the detainees, he added. 

According to the deputy commissioner, the gang would travel across the country and rob passengers on busses, after rendering them unconscious by selling them food laced with sedatives.

“Legal action will be taken against the suspects,” he further said.
