Four members of a family sustained severe burn in Saturday's explosion

A minor boy—who suffered severe burns from a gas cylinder blast in Narayanganj—has died while undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

The deceased, Rafi, 11, died around 1:15pm on Thursday — raising the incident's death toll to three.

Confirming the matter, Dr Partha Sankar Pal—resident physician of DMCH burn unit—said: "Rafi suffered 98% burns. After five days battling for his life, he succumbed to his injuries at the burn unit's ICU, at noon."

Earlier, on Monday morning, another victim and Rafi's mother—Fatema Begum, 35— died at the DMCH.

She suffered 97% burns.

Previously, on Saturday night, Fatema, and her three children, sustained severe burn injuries in a gas cylinder blast at their home in Narayanganj's Fatullah area.

Her son Safawan, 5, died at the DMCH around 8pm on Sunday.

Fatema’s daughter Faria, 9, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. However, she suffered 90% burns and is in critical condition.
