Feni madrasa student goes under the knife at DMCH

She is still in critical condition

A two-hour-long surgery for compression-related complications has been performed on the Feni madrasa student burned by unknown assailants on April 6.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune Dr Abul Kalam said: "The operation started at 10:30am and ended at 12:30pm."

This chief of the medical board formed for her treatment said: “This operation is called an escharotomy, and these are only performed on people who have severe burn injuries. This surgery was necessary in order to release compression on her whole body.

“Her condition now is a little better, though the compression is yet to be fully- released. It is going to take some time.”

Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit, told Dhaka Tribune that the condition of such patients fluctuates.

“You might see her condition improve in the morning, but it might suddenly deteriorate in the afternoon," he said.
