Injured firefighter Sohel Rana flies to Singapore for treatment

Rana will be treated at Singapore General Hospital

Firefighter Sohel Rana, who sustained serious injuries during Banani FR Tower fire rescue operation and was undergoing treatment in critical condition at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, has been taken to Singapore for better treatment.

An air ambulance carrying Sohel Rana took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:48pm, said Devashish Bardhan, deputy director (Dhaka Division) of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

“As directed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he was taken to Singapore for better treatment. Senior Station Officer Rayhan Ul Ashraf of Fire Service will be accompanying him during his treatment,” he said.

Rana will be treated at Singapore General Hospital, he added.

Meanwhile, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director Lt Col Md Abdullah Ibn Zayed said the air ambulance meant to carry Rana landed in Bangladesh at 4.30pm. He was brough to the airport from the Combine Military Hospital in the afternoon.

Sohel Rana of Kurmitola Fire Service and Civil Defence, sustained serious injuries on March 28 while rescuing people from the Banani’s FR Tower fire that claimed 26 lives and left many injured.
