The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sent letters to nine organizations to investigate irregularities in the construction of FR Tower in Banani, where a devastating fire claimed the lives of 26 people recently.

ACC Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddik, also the investigation officer, sent the letters to Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk), Fire Service and Civil Defence, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Environment Department, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, City Corporation, Water Supply & Sewerage Authority (DWASA) and Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority, on Thursday, relevant officials confirmed.

All the nine organizations have been asked to submit their reports within three working days.

The ACC asked the organisations for the date of plan approval, time of construction, names of engineers and architects of the building, use and purpose of the building, its height, CAA’s approval, car parking, emergency exits, number of staircases, fire-fighting equipment, and false ceilings in the structure.

The watchdog also asked for documents related to the plan, construction and expansion of FR Tower.
