“The committee, headed by fire service Deputy Director Shamim Ahsan Chowdhury, has been directed to submit a probe report within the next seven days,” he said.

The fire service director also said: “We had earlier informed the market authority to take measures for ensuring fire safety, as we had found this complex risky. However, the authorities filed a writ against us.”

Shakil Nawaz has also called off the rescue operation.

Sources from the fire service have confirmed that the fire broke out from the DNCC kitchen market, and further details will be made available after submission of the investigation committee report.
