“After initial interrogation, Saju confessed about his involved in the murder of a person named Julhas.”

He said: “Saju also claimed that Monir and Shah Ali ordered the killing. Based on his information, a team of DB police conducted a drive in Aftab Nagar area around 4:30am.”

“When the team reached the spot, a gang of criminals inside a microbus began firing on the police, forcing them to retaliate,” he added.

The DB official continued: “We rescued two injured men from the microbus and arrested two others while they were trying to flee the scene. The two injured were declared dead when taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).”

DB sources said four foreign-made pistols, magazines, around 14 bullets and a microbus, used for drug distribution were also seized from the scene.
