Two Saudi Airlines crews remanded over gold smuggling in Dhaka

Customs intelligence members had recovered 36 gold bars from the duo

A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted two cabin crew members of Saudi Airlines one day remand trial each in two cases lodged over gold smuggling.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Tofazzal Hossain put Saima Akhter and Farjana Afroza on remand trial after police pleaded for total 10-day remand in two separate cases.

Customs members detained the duo early Monday at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after they arrived on Saudi Airlines flight SV-802.

Customs intelligence members recovered 26 gold bars from Saima and 10 from Farjana.
